X-mass Holidays – 2016 in Cairns, What to do? Is it Busy? Should I Book In Advance?

Planning a holiday in Cairns this year 2016?

What to do? Is it Busy? Should I Book In Advance?

Just some of the hundreds of email request we get from travelers and families wanting to know what to do in Cairns over the X-mass school Holidays.

Should you book in advance or wait until you get to Cairns to book?

Read on to find out the nitty gritty!

A couple of quick fast facts:

Should You Book in Advance?
The Answer: Yes, snorkeling and diving tours to the Great Barrier Reef and Kuranda Village book out 7 days in advance during the X-mass School holiday period.

Is it Busy?
The Answer: Yes, lots of families and international travelers are in Cairns at this time of the year, they want to relax and soak up the tropical sunny days snorkeling and diving on the reef.

What is there to do?
The Answer: There are literally hundreds of things to do in Cairns, but to cut it down for you, here are the top 3 things to see and do in Cairns:

  1. Visit the Great Barrier Reef on a  day snorkeling or diving tour. There are three main ways to visit the reef. The first is by fast day boat snorkeling and diving. The second is to visit one of the many islands and sandy cays. The third is to visit one of the outer reef pontoons.

  2. Visit Kuranda village by Scenic Train and Skyrail. Kuranda is a small village with many markets, cafes, art studios and small petting zoos. Located nearly 100klm West of Cairns city itself. There are day tours that pick you up and drop you off at your hotel.

  3. Visit Cape Tribulation and Daintree National Park. You can either hire a car and drive yourself so you can take your time and explore the beautiful coastline between Cairns and Port Douglas. Or you can take a full day comprehensive day tour lead by a senior experienced guide. A tour is a great way to learn about the Rainforest, the animals that live there and the local Aboriginal peoples that claim this area.

So the best advice we can give you is plan early!

That’s right think about why you are coming to Cairns for a Holiday!
